Network rendering in Blender

Network rendering in Blender

I am truly impressed by the idea of using my workhorse to send a render job to my other 4 idle computers to crunch while I continue to work on my main computer. I love it more that when I am done with my task, and am getting ready to go eat, sleep, or just plain walk away from work for a bit, I can set my main computer to be another slave in the farm and crunch more of those pesky frames of the animation.

So far, I am surprised that it cut my render time of a previously rendered scene, that took 3.5 days to render with one computer, in just under 10 hours on the makeshift renderfarm... two 2009 Mac Pro, one 2011 Macmini (acting as the brain - no rendering task) and two MacBook pros (sorry wife!). Just need to figure how to add my three Linux boxes and this is going to be super cooooooool.

The beauty of 3D arts.
